Happy Sesquicentenni-oil!!

Diggin’and drilling,
Right on this spot,
American oil was born.
Kindled by effort and sweat of the brow,
Even ‘mid onlooker’s scorn.
When at long last the oil rose up,
Excitement spread throughout.
Lamps burned brightly with rock oil fuel,
Light cast away darkness and doubt.
